I decided to take the idiom/prompt literally.

You must fend off the corrupted bugs to keep watching the TV. 
Keep them off the core, lest the TV's reception takes a hit and eventually breaks.

Good concept, like the game's aesthetic and audio. Repetitive, not sure if there is a win condition but the loss condition is nice.
